Sokavo is an independently operated marketplace based in Long Beach, California. Sokavo respects the privacy of customers, vendors and visitors. This policy explains what information Sokavo collects through sokavo.com and its marketplace services, how it is used, and when it is disclosed. Sokavo does not sell personal information and does not share customer personal information with third parties for their own marketing or targeted advertising.

How we use information

We use information to operate accounts and vendor applications; display shops, products, reviews and directories; support orders made through Sokavo-hosted storefronts; send necessary account, application, order and service messages; administer vendor memberships; answer enquiries; protect the marketplace; prevent fraud and abuse; maintain and improve our services; and meet legal obligations.

When information is shared

We do not sell anyone’s personal information. We do not share customer personal information with third parties so they can market their own products or build advertising profiles. We disclose information only as needed to provide the service, protect people and the platform, or comply with law:

If you follow a link to a vendor’s independent website, that vendor and its chosen providers handle information you submit there under their own policies. Sokavo does not receive independent-site checkout or payment details merely because it referred you to that website.

Stripe and payment-card information

Sokavo uses Stripe-hosted payment services for vendor membership payments. Payment details are entered into Stripe’s payment interface and processed by Stripe. Sokavo does not store full payment-card numbers or card security codes in WordPress. Sokavo may receive and retain payment-related references and membership information, such as Stripe customer, subscription, invoice, payment-method identifiers, and payment status, to administer memberships and support billing. These references are not full card details. For purchases through a Sokavo-hosted storefront, payment is processed through the vendor’s connected payment account; the vendor is responsible for its sale and order obligations.

Vendor features, marketing and Google

Part of Sokavo’s service is helping participating vendors be discovered. We may feature each approved vendor at different times on Sokavo’s website and social media as part of our marketing, using public business information and content such as the shop name, logo, product images, descriptions, and links. We may also submit eligible vendor and product information to Google Shopping listings. Google determines its own eligibility, approval, display, and placement. These promotional activities concern vendors’ public business and product information—not customers’ private account or purchase information. Google and social platforms process information under their own privacy policies.

Cookies and similar technologies

WordPress and Sokavo may use essential cookies or similar storage to keep accounts secure and signed in, maintain a shopping cart, remember an opaque vendor-referral code, and protect forms and site features. Referral codes are used to attribute a visit and are not intended to identify a person by name. Hosting, security, or other enabled site tools may also use technical storage. Your browser can provide controls for cookies; disabling essential storage may affect site functionality.

Retention and security

We keep information for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes above, including to operate accounts and memberships, support orders, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, and meet legal, tax, accounting, or security obligations. Retention periods can vary by record type and applicable requirements. We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.

Your choices and privacy requests

You may update certain account details and preferences in your Sokavo account. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. To make a request or ask a privacy question, use the Contact Sokavo form and select “General enquiry”; write “Privacy request” in your message. We may need to verify your identity. We may retain information where permitted or required by law or needed to complete a transaction, resolve a dispute, maintain security, or enforce our agreements.

Children

Sokavo is not designed for children to create marketplace accounts. If you believe a child has provided personal information to Sokavo, contact us using the form above so we can review the request.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Sokavo’s services or legal requirements change. We will post the updated version on this page and revise the “Last updated” date. Please review this page periodically.
